The Hedonist Collection is an exciting set of limited edition wall art which combines Kate Garner's work as a photographer and Marchella De Angelis's expertise in weaving together colour, art and design. The collection is based on images of performance artist Leigh Bowery, an iconic trend innovator and muse of Lucien Freud whose influence is clearly seen in the work of leading fashion designers such as John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood.
Reminiscent of heritage colours and punk iconia, The Hedonist Collection pairs modern and classical styling with a twist to create pure punk deluxe!
Recently the collection made the finals in the 2009 FX International Design Awards.
In 2010 the Whitworth Art Gallery will also be featuring the collection as a travelling exhibition, with the works being in situ for one year before moving across to Europe in 2011 and 2012. In collaboration with the Victoria & Albert Museum and the European Arts Council the exhibition will feature a history of print seen as art.
As such the Victoria & Albert Museum has already paid tribute to De Angelis & Garner's contribution to the history of design and print by archiving The Hedonist Collection and confirming it as something quite special.
